Brača IV - Marathon Layup
The Brača IV needs no introduction for flatwater racing. Most K1 padders have either learnt on one of use one as their dedicated race paddle. This 'marathon' layup keeps the same Braca IV shape but adds some kevlar reinforcement to the tip of the blade. This is ideal for river racers where you might 'bottom out' the blade in the shallows, have to push off a bank during a checkpoint or are racing in the dark and might hit something unexpected! We carry these blades in 705cm2, 735cm2 and 765cm2 and can pair these with a 4K, 6K or a 19K soft for those wanting to also use their paddle on a spec ski or ocean ski.
Brača XI Van Dusen - Marathon Layup
The Brača XI Van Dusen '92 is the latest addition to the Brača-Sport paddle line. It was originally designed by Ted Van Dusen in 1992 after three years of development and testing. The blade has a special twisted tear-drop shape which facilitates a powerful catch and clean exit. It's movement through the water is different from other Brača-Sport blades, paddlers report increased stability in rough conditons due to the stronger catch. The Van Dusen marathon layup, like the Braca IV version, adds some kevlar reinforcement to the tip of the blade. This is ideal for river racers where you might 'bottom out' the blade in the shallows, have to push off a bank during a checkpoint or are racing in the dark and might hit something unexpected! We carry these blades in 705cm2, and 735cm2 and can pair these with a 4K, 6K or a 19K soft for those wanting to also use their paddle on a spec ski or ocean ski.
